LoanCalc – EMI Calculator

Chrome Browser Extension

1.  Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how LoanCalc – EMI Calculator (“the Extension”) handles user information. LoanCalc is a Chrome browser extension that enables users to calculate loan EMIs, compare flat vs reducing balance interest types, and export repayment schedules to Excel.

We are fully committed to protecting your privacy. The Extension is designed from the ground up to operate without collecting, transmitting, or storing any personal or financial data.

2.  Data We Do NOT Collect

LoanCalc does not collect, store, transmit, or share any of the following types of data:

•         Personally identifiable information (name, email, address, age, ID numbers)

•         Financial or payment information (loan figures entered, credit card details, bank data)

•         Health or medical information

•         Authentication credentials (passwords, PINs, security answers)

•         Personal communications (emails, texts, or chat messages)

•         Location data (GPS coordinates, IP address, or region)

•         Web browsing or search history

•         User activity such as clicks, keystrokes, or mouse movements

•         Website content from pages you visit

All financial inputs you enter (loan amounts, interest rates, tenure, currency) are processed entirely within your browser and are never transmitted anywhere.

3.  Data We Do Collect

LoanCalc stores only one item of data, locally on your device:

•         Theme preference (dark or light mode) – stored using Chrome’s built-in chrome.storage.local API to preserve your display preference between sessions.

This preference:

•         Remains only on your local device

•         Is never transmitted to any external server

•         Is never shared with any third party

•         Contains no personal or financial information

•         Can be cleared at any time by removing the extension

4.  How the Extension Works

LoanCalc operates entirely offline and locally within your browser:

•         All EMI calculations are performed in your browser using JavaScript

•         Repayment schedules are generated and displayed entirely locally

•         Excel exports (.xlsx) are generated locally and saved directly to your device

•         No network requests are made for calculations or data processing

•         No analytics, tracking scripts, or telemetry of any kind are included

5.  Chrome Permissions Used

LoanCalc requests only one Chrome permission:

•         storage – Used exclusively to save your dark/light theme preference locally on your device.

No other permissions are requested. LoanCalc does not request access to tabs, browsing history, cookies, camera, microphone, or any other sensitive browser APIs.

6.  Third-Party Services

LoanCalc does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services.

The extension may load the Inter typeface from Google Fonts via a CSS stylesheet import for display purposes only. This is a standard web font request and does not involve sharing any user data or financial information. The extension functions fully without an internet connection, with system fonts as fallback.

7.  Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer any user data to third parties. There is no user data to share, as LoanCalc does not collect personal or financial information.

We certify that:

•         We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties outside of approved use cases

•         We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension’s single purpose

•         We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes

8.  Data Security

Since LoanCalc does not collect or transmit user data, the risk of a data breach is negligible. The only data stored (theme preference) is kept locally in Chrome’s sandboxed storage and is accessible only to this extension.

9.  Children’s Privacy

LoanCalc does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The extension is a general-purpose financial calculator tool and does not target any specific age group.

10.  Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with a new effective date at the top of this document. Continued use of the extension after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
