1. Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how the CSV to Excel Converter Chrome Extension ("the Extension") handles your data. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Extension was designed with a privacy-first approach: it operates entirely on your local device and does not collect, transmit, store, or share any of your personal information or file data.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

The Extension does not collect any of the following:

•       Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)

•       The contents of any CSV files you convert

•       The contents of any Excel files generated

•       Browsing history or activity on any website

•       Device information, IP addresses, or location data

•       Usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry data

•       Cookies or any tracking identifiers

 

3. How the Extension Works

All file processing is performed entirely within your web browser on your local device. Here is exactly what happens when you use the Extension:

File Selection: You select or drag-and-drop one or more CSV files into the Extension popup. These files are accessed directly from your device's local storage.

Local Processing: The Extension reads your CSV files using the browser's built-in FileReader API and converts them to Excel (.xlsx) format using JavaScript running entirely within your browser. No data leaves your device at any point.

File Download: The converted Excel file(s) are immediately made available for download to your device. For multiple files, they are bundled into a ZIP archive before downloading.

No Retention: Once the conversion is complete, no file data is retained in memory, stored in any database, or sent anywhere. Closing the popup clears all state.

4. Chrome Permissions Used

The Extension requests only one Chrome permission:

downloads — This permission is required solely to trigger the download of converted Excel or ZIP files to your device. It is not used for any other purpose.

The Extension does not request access to tabs, browsing history, bookmarks, or any website content. It has no network access permissions and cannot make requests to external servers.

5. Data Storage

The Extension does not use any form of local or remote storage. It does not use chrome.storage, localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, cookies, or any other storage mechanism. All data processed by the Extension exists only temporarily in memory while the popup is open and is discarded immediately after the conversion is complete or the popup is closed.

6. Third-Party Services

The Extension does not integrate with, communicate with, or send data to any third-party services, APIs, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or cloud services. All functionality is self-contained and runs offline within your browser.

7. Children's Privacy

The Extension does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Since no data is collected from any user of any age, the Extension is inherently compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations.

8. Security

Because the Extension operates entirely locally and never transmits your data over a network, your files are never exposed to network-based security risks. Your CSV data remains on your device at all times and is processed in the secure, sandboxed environment of your Chrome browser.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
